The book was written by Judith Copek, a Boston writer who works in information security, and does a top-notch job of painting a picture without bogging down the story with unnecessary technical details. The details Ms. Copek does use are used sparingly but to excellent effect. The variety of world settings--Singapore, Hong Kong, Boston-- manage to convey the sense of a very large net --or Net-- being cast, while still creating a claustrophobic feel to the story. Ms. Copek's characters are wonderfully offbeat, from the sexy, mysterious, and most likely dangerous Peter Weber to the brilliant geeks of Hackway House (I think I've eaten at Mary Chung's with some of these guys.
If you are looking for a good cyber thriller, or a smart fascinating female protagonist, you can't do better than this. Copek is working on a new novel and I for one look forward to reading it and any other book by this author.
